I am a big fan of the flute set. I was a flute player for years, and the AG set is very realistic. It's made of a nice metal with a matching vinyl case that is velvet lined. It is one of my favorite accessories for my girls.

My older violin set always breaks! The bow strings needed to be glued, the bridge of the violin came off, and the case is sooo cheap! Hopefully the newer ones are better, but this was the worst AG item I have gotten. It's still cute, though.

The violin and the flute set are some of the items in my wishlist. I will give that wishlist to my husband before my birthday in September. I hope I get one of them!

My daughter has the flute set and it's really sweet. Extremely well made and if you blow into it, it'll make a sound. The case is nicely made and so is the stand. My daughter was surprised when she saw the flute book because it was the same one she used when she started playing the flute at school.

We have them both and they are both very nice. I think it depends on which one she would like more. The violin does not make a true violin sound. It made out of wood, but heavily shellacked so at first glance it might not appear to be made of wood. We just had violin lessons yesterday and Traveling Felicity brought the doll violin set with her so if I can get the pictures ready, you can look at them to see hat the violin looks like. I think they used balsa wood for the violin which would explain why it is extremely light. The case is cute and there is a small package of rosin included. The flute set is nice as well. The music stand is the same for both of the sets and is quite heavy. The books that are included are pretty much the same except one has flute music obviously and the other has violin. The keys on the flute itself do not move so if your daughter is looking for something that does, she might be disappointed in it. My daugher was able to get the flute to make a sound, but really neither one is going to give you a real musical tone. Since this is for the dolls, though, it might not matter to her.
Hope this helps

i woould say the flute because it is more normal for a girl to play a flute rather than a violin.

Violin! I have a violin that was purchased immediately when they first came out, I don't know how/if they've changed since then. I just love the violin, though, of course I play the violin and viola so it makes sense that I would like it. (and I'm perfectly "normal," by the way, thanks.) I don't know why the strings would ever break but one note to prevent that would be not to twist the pegs too high. Also, there's no way a mini-violin could make any real violin sound because of the intricate construction of an actual violin. But the AG violin is definitely a good replica, a beautiful accessory. Don't forget to get the music stand!

I don't know about either sets, but just to add my two cents...it's perfectly normal for anyone, boy or girl, to play any musical instrument. Instruments don't discriminate so neither should we!

MY daughter has saved her allowance for an AG item. She told me that she either wants the violin or flute set! Does anyone have them are they nice?
Which do you prefer?

Too bad they don't have a Saxophone, as that would be my vote! I played for 6 or 7 years. I remember when I "tried out" for an instrument and I too felt it would be more "normal" for a small girl such as myself to play the flute, but alas...i couldn't make noise out of that thing to save my life. So, the saxophone it was! I learned quickly that it is more "normal" to play what you are talented at and not what is "fashionable." I ended up play the Alto, Tenor and Bari-Sax depending on what band I was in and what they needed as I could do them all quite well. Talk about normal or not normal...I was a skinny thing and I think that Bari Sax weighed more than I did...I remember a judge making a comment on one of my sheets about me being so little but playing such a full sound and shocking him...I don't think he thought it was "normal" either for such a little girl to play such a big instrument!
But back to the matter at hand...I don't have either, but if it were for my daughter I would have to consider which the doll might actually hold better. My DD loves to pose the dolls and doesn't like it very well when they can't "hold" the objects by themselves. Maybe that is impossible for either of these too mini instruments, I don't know...just thoughts to consider!
